SCHOOL OF DRAMA
CLASSES IN AUCKLAND ABLE LECTURING STAFF - Great interest will be taken by local students of the amateur stage in the second Summer School of the British Drama League, which is to be held in Auckland this year, commencing on December 28, and continuing daily for a fortnight. A very able staff of lecturers has been appointed by the national executive ot the New Zealand branch, in consultation with the Auckland area committee. Production and rehearsal classec will be conducted by Professor J. Shelley, Professor of Education at the Canterbury University College; Miss Bessie Thomson, pupil of Rosina Pilippi, and producer for the Dunedin Repertory Society; Mr. Arnold Goodwin, producer for the Workers' Educational Association, Auckland; Mrs. Zoe Bartley-Baxter, and Mr. J. D. Swan, two other well-known Auckland producers. Miss Beatrice Mackenzie will conduct classes in diction, choral speaking and allied subjects, while dancing movement and mime will be directed by Madame Edith Baird, Fellow of the Imperial Socioty of Dance Teachers, and Miss Molly Searle, of Cecil Sharp House, London The director of the school will be Mr. Stanley Natusch, honorary treasurer of the New Zealand branch of the league. By consent of the Auckland Grammar School Board, and the Workers' Educational Association, the building and grounds of the Epsom Girls' Grammar School have been made available for morning classes, and the Workers' Educational Association's Hall for the evening sessions, at which, in addition to lectures, plays will be presented for criticism.
