POWER CHARGES DISPUTE
PALMERSTON NORTH RATES JUDGE RESERVES DECISION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON. Friday The case in which the Palmerston North City Council is asking the Supreme Court for an injunction against the Manawatu-Oroua Electric-Power Board was continued to-day before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers. The question whether the board was justified in increasing the rate for power and lighting in the area of Palmerston North to the advantage of Feilding and country districts, was argued. Mr. Richmond, for the board, contended it was the duty of the board under economic necessity to apply its power of special rating to such part of the district as could bear it. He contended that by obstinacy and selfishness Palmerston North was endeavouring to ruin the board. There was not any dishonesty or desire to break the contract. The truth was that the farmers wished for the best for all and Palmerstoil North refused.
His Honor reserved his decision
