THE LEAGUE CODE

REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE AUCKLAND TO MEET SOUTH I ■ .FAST MATCH ANTICIPATED A ..fast. and open contest is anticipated at Carlaw Park to-morrow when the Auckland Rugby League representatives will play South Auckland. Ground conditions are now conducive to fast displays and there should be some thrilling exchanges to-morrow. | Auckland will bo represented by a strong thirteen, which should prove difficult to defeat. Cooke, who has played at fullback for Richmond in club games this season, has been selected, for the centre-thrcequarter position, and N. Campbell, Marist, a New Zealand representative, will be the custodian.- Both Campbell and Cooke are at the top of their form at present, and by playing the pair in the respective positions, Auckland will bp greatly, strengthened. All the other backs have shown good form in club football and interest will centre in the play of Stephens, who was unable to play in the inter-Island match. He has shown- great promise as a wing during the season. Riley, Ponsonby, is a very promising fiveeighths, while Powell, Richmond, as a halfback, is one of the most improved players in the game. Prentice, Richmond, is not available and will be replaced by McLaughlin, Citifc at fiveeighths. Strong Forwards

The Auckland forwards, on paper, are a formidable set and should provide the visitors with strong opposition, especially in the. open play. Hutt, who met with success in the inter-Island match as a hooker, has been chosen for this position to-morrow. The South Auckland team consists largely of young players who are expected to give Auckland a good game. At centre-threequarter, W. Tittleton will be remembered for his fine game in the inter-Island match, and as he will mark Cooke to-morrow, it will be interesting to see how he fares. Trautvetter, Mason and Timms are all wellknown forwards: Aucldand's strongest opposition is likely to come from the visiting vanguard/ but the backs are said to be a good'all-round combination. The teams are as follows: — AUCKLAND Fullback.—N. Campbell diarist). Threeqiiartersl—M. Stephens (Newton), A. E. Cooke (Richmond), E; T, Mincham (Richmond). Five-eighths^— A. McLaughlin (City), O.
