MATCH BETWEEN MAORIS TAMAKI TEAM SUCCESSFUL DEFEAT OF LOWER WAIKATO A, representative Maori Rugby League match was played at Carlaw Park yesterday afternoon between the Tamaki and Lower Waikato teams, the former winning by 36 points to 13. TAMAKI TO MEET TARANAKI MATCH WITH SOUTH AUCKLAND Matters in connection with future matches for the Waitangi Maori Shield were discussed at last evening'e meeting of the Auckland liugby League, when a formal application was made by the Tamaki Club to play laranaki on September 22 at New Plymouth. The chairman. Mr. G. Grey Campbell, said much depended upon the visit of the Sydney Western Suburbs Club team, which would arrive on that date. It was intended that the champion of champions gams between Richmond and Newton would be played on September 22 and two Newton players were included in the Tamaki Maori team to go on tour.

The matter was deferred until after this evening's meeting of the New Zealand League, which will announce the definite programme for the Sydney team's tour. Mr. Campbell said that, should Tamaki defeat Taranaki, a match wouW be arranged at Huntly on October 6 or 8, during the celebration of the anniversary of the coronalion of the Maori king.
