Advice that her son would be accompanying the band as one of the players was contained in a letter received by Mrs. Finikin yesterday. The band will be in New Plymouth for one day only, on .December 18, and, pleased as Mrs. Finikin wasi at the prospect of seeing her son again, her only regret was that his stay could not havu been longer. Mrs. Finikin left Stoke-on-Trent 10 years ago for New Zealand and her son had alnaady been absent from England with the 2nd Royal Sects for five years prior to that. At this age of 14 he joined the band of that regiment immediately on leaving sc'iool. After the war he saw service in Germany and India.' Private Finikin left the Royal Scots to join the police force, but later rejoined the Army. Ore of Mrs. Finikin'B fondest treasures is a card presented to her son when he played in the 2nd. Royal Scots Band at the wadding of 1 Princess Mary and Viscount Laseelles.
