FARMERS INCENSED GUARDS FIRE OVER HEADS SEIZURE OF CATTLE BAILIFFS OPPOSED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 30, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, August 30 The Daily Mail's Waterford correspondent states that 80 detectives and Civic Guards fired volleys over the heads of angry farmers who opposed bailiffs when they wero seizing cattle for unpaid land annuities in the Dunhill county. LEADERS DIFFER O'DUFFY'S FASCISM MR. COSGRAVE'S OBJECTION LONDON, August 23 A dispute has arisen between Mr. Cosgrave and General O'Duffy, says the Dublin correspondent of the News Chronicle, owing to the latter's desire j, to establish a Fascist Stato on the Italian model. Mr. Cosgrave opposes the idea, as it would split the forces opposing Mr. i de Valera, who is reported to bo holding up a declaration that the Bluo Shirts organisation is illegal until the rift is complete. The Blue Shirts at their congresß discussed the possibility of severing | connection with. Mr. Cosgrave, and i forming a new and more aggressive party under General O'Duffy. DISPUTE WITH ENGLAND WILD RUMOURS RIFE POSITION STILL UNCHANGED LONDON, August 21 Owing to the absence of newspapern in Dublin on account of the strike,, wild rumours are in circulation regarding negotiations for a settlement of this dispute with England. It was reported that the Dominions' Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, had visited Ireland to confer with Mr. de Valera, but the former to-day denied that he had done so. He added that the position between the two countries remained unchanged. It is understood that the British Government is willing to resume negotiations when Mr. de Valera is pr<ipared to acknowledge the Free State's financial obligations. Emissaries from Dublin with suggestions for oveircomiug the deadlock have not satisfied the British Government i with respect to their credentials.
