WOMEN'S DIVISION

Activities of branches of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union include the following meetings:— Te Awamutu. —A demonstration of making blinds waterproof was given by Mrs. L. Nicholson, who won the first prize -in the thrift class at the Winter Show. Arrangements were completed for the forthcoming visit of Miss Andrews (Pan-Pacific delegate) to Te Awamutu. Mrs. G. Owen was the winner of the membership campaign. Pianoforte solos by Mrs. Trevor Nicholson and songs by Mrs. Gene Strong were enjoyed. Ngongotaha.—it was decided at a recent meeting to form a junior branch. Mrs. Cliff Allen, delegate to the Dominion conference, gave a talk on the social side of the conference and on the remits passed. Her competition was won by Mrs. A Sharp. Recitations by Mesdames Steed and Stembridge were enjoyed. The results of competitions. were as follows: —Buttonhole, Mesdames El. Beaufill, Owen, Sharp, A. Robinson; darning, Mesdames A. Robinson, P. Juckson, Sharp and Windley. Whakamarama. —Plans for a bazaar to be followed by a danco were formulated at a recent meeting. Mrs. Lloyd presided. Mrs. Odey was appointed in charge of the Needy Chest. Towai.—A demonstration of curing sheepskins for rugs was given by Mrs. Callaghan. Tlie competition, " a sugar bag article," was won by Mrs. Woodcock, with a dyed cushion cover worked in multi-coloured wools. A child's sun helmet lined with ci - etonne was ingeniously carried out.
