PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP The Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship for th' BiHinrds. Limited, Shield was continued list evening, when T. Tierney (Tuakau) defeated D. Jones (Auckland). Fairly good form was shown by both contestant Alter a bnd start, Tierney played very attractively in compiling all-round breaks of 29, 88 and 48 and led by close on 100 points at the 150 mark. .Jones reduced tho deficit somewhat with breaks of 20 and 26 and. adding a further 30. brought his pcoro ■vithin six points of that of his opponent. The players ran level for a time, but a red-ball break of 35 gave Tierney a good lead which he increased with breaks of \>o. 38 and 35. Tierney eventually ran to points with a lead of 133. The final scores •Acre: —T. Tierney. 500; D. Jones, 367. E. J. Goodhew will play A. A, Oldfield this eveninp.
