WIN FOR SOUTH AUCKLAND NORTHLAND TEAM DEFEATED [I'ROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] TAUPIRI. Monday In the representative match between Northland and South Auckland, played on Saturday at Huntly, South Auckland defeated the touring team by 13 points to 5. Berehan (Northland) opened with a field goal. G. Tittleton replied for South Auckland with a fine penalty kick from the side-line. From an opening made by Walter Tittleton the ball came out to G. Tittleton, who scored between the posts, the try being converted by D. Pitt, the South Auckland halfback. Tho scores at half-time were:—South Auckland. 7; Northland. 2. Early in the second half Walter Tittleton. broke away again and sent-out to Hill, who made a line side-line run and kicked over the fullback's head. Pawson diving over to score right in. the corner. G. Tiitleton's kick at goal failed', the ball hitting the upnclit. A good run down -the side-line w6& then made by Taylor, playing on.'the wins for Northland. He scored between the posts, but the try was unconverted. Abbott. Bouth, Auckland's fullback, retiring, his place was taken by G. Tittleton, who fielded the ball and. running diagonally across the field, passed to Walter Tittleton. who sent to Hill. Hill drew the wing,, side-stepped? the fullback, and scpred between the posts. Pitt missed the kick. The game ended: —South Auckland. 13; Northland. 5. Mr. A. Harlock was referee. Although the scores made were good, the game as a whole was not inspiring.
