APPEAL BY NEWTON CLUB SOUTH AUCKLAND MATCH Notice of its intention to appeal to the New Zealand Rugby League objecting to the transfers of several prominent players to the Mount Albert Club was received last evening by the Auckland Rugby League from the Newton Club. The appeal was based on tho grounds that the meeting of the Newton Club which approved of the transfers was not held in accordance with the rules. The chairman, Mt. (j. Grey-Campbell, said the Auckland League had good grounds for its action, and on his motion the case will be stated to the New Zealand League. It was decided to endorse the action of the emergency committee in approving of the transfers of R. Hardgrave, C. Dempsey, A. Allen and C. Meytick from the Newton Club to Mount Albert. The chairman, in explanation, stated that a special meeting had been called to discuss the individual applications. A request from the South Auckland League for a representative match against Auckland was agreed tp, September 15 being the date tentatively arranged. A communication, was received from the Hawke's Bay League asking for consideration of gate percentages for a game with an all-Maori team which proposed to play several matches in the North Island. On the suggestion of the chairman, the matter wag referred to the New Zealand Council, which had to approve of all representative fixtures. A report, was read dealing with a match played between Otahuhu and Tuakati at Tuakau last Saturday. The ground appointments were all that could be desired and the game was well contested. A suggestion that a return game be played at Carlaw Park later in the season was referred to the junior board. It was decided to inaugurate a special round in the senior grade for those teamß knocked out of the Boope Rooster competition. Consideration of playing these matches on tho same day as the North v. South Island match was deferred until after next Saturday's club games. The following transfers were approved:— J. Gibson, City to Newton; R. Wilson, Ponsonby to Mount Albert; I.
