LAND SETTLEMENT
THE WAIKATO SOCIETY DONATIONS BY FIRMS Further gifts of fertiliser have been received by the Waikato Land Settlement Society from various firms, bringing the total thus contributed for use on the properties being developed by the society to 95 tons. At the end of July it was announced that a number of firms and individuals had made gifts of fertiliser totalling 77 tons, and yesterday the founder of the society, Sir. D. V. Bryant, reported that further donations had been made as follows: New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited (Hamilton), six tons; Wright, Stephenson and Company, Limited, six tons; Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited, three tons; J. Jones, Limited, Auckland, three tons. Mr. Bryant said that he would shortly be able to announce a furher list of donors.
Mr. Bryant also said that the society had just purchased a large quantity of timber from the State sawmill at Mamaku and was about to proceed with the erection of the buildings on its properties at Te Awamutu and Whatawhata, and the milking and other sheds 011 the block at Roto-o-rangi.
