RUGBY FOOTBALL

REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE MATCH AGAINST WAIRARAPA ATTRACTION FOR TO-MORROW Another representative match will be played at Eden Park to-morrow afternoon, when the Auckland team will meet that from Wairarapa. The visitors come with the reputation of being capable of playing fast, open football. Tim fact that they scored a victory this season over Wellington's strongest fifteen indicates that they form a solid all-round combination. Much interest will centre in J. Heini, the young Maori fullback, who has received great praise from all tho critics who have seen him in action this season. Ho is a powerful kick. C. Stringfellow, centre-threoqunrter, is playing at the top of his form at present, and is considered to be very unlucky not to he in tho New Zealand side now in Australia. F. Fitzgerald and G. Booth are wingthreequarters well up to the average, while the five-eighths, R, Devine and P. Himona, are both good and should ho seen in bright movements if they get share of the hall. R. Nunn, the halfback, plays attractive football and varies his tactics cleverly. Among tho forwards, K. Reid is well known to Aucklanders as a good hooker as well as being an excellent all-round forward. He represented New Zealand in 1929, and has played for the North Island and in trial games on a number of occasions. Frasef-Smith played in tlio All Black trial at Wanganui this season. Seivers, Laing, Trass and Aitken are all forwards of distinct promise!'. Auckland Team Changed The Auckland selector, Mr. V. R. Meredith, has made two alterations in the team which was defeated by North Auckland last Saturday. Heazlewood replaces Mathcson at fullback, the lastnamed having injured a finger last week. '' Smith goes into the pack in place of Hardie. The selector is to be commended for persevering with his young back team. Their game together last Saturday will have given them confidence, and they are likely to put up a better performance to-morrow. The chief difficulty confronting tho selector was in endeavouring to improve the pack. The big typo of forward is practically absent from Auckland senior teams, and so the choice is Jimited. Smith,- who replaces Hardie, is a vigorous who should add a little more sting to the play of the pack as a whole. The Auckland players realise they will bo up against a stiff proposition to-morrow, and, having paid strict attention to training and acjvico from their selector-coach, they should be capable of an all-round improved display. Seeing, that the Auckland B teahi lias no match to-morrow, the selector will hive a much wider choice in regard to reserves. The Wairarapa team will arrive in Auckland this morning. Following are the teams.
