MUSEUM ACTIVITIES
Proposals for the reorganisation of the Royal Society of New Zealand, formerly called the New Zealand Institute, came before the council of the Auckland Institute and Museum this week. "There are a great many contentious matters involved," said Sir Cecil Leys, who presided, "and it will bo easier to reach a decision if a committee is appointed to confer in the matter." Sir Cecil's suggestion was adopted. The director of the museum, Mr. Gilbert Archey, reported that extensive preparations had been made for the special exhibition of i yachting and natural history subjects, to be opened on August 31. Mr. H. C. McCoy, who was recently elected to the council, was welcomed by the chairman, who expressed the hope he would render valuable assistance in his new office
