"THE DUBARRY"
WILLIAMSON OPERA COMPANY At His Majesty's Theatre to-morrow night the J. C. Williamson, Limited, management will present for the first time to playgoers of New Zealand tho musical comic opera "The Duharry," in which tho brilliant young London singer and actress Miss Sylvia Welling will make her debut. The company, which numbers over 100 people, will arrive from Sydney by tho Wanganella this morning, and a full scenery and lighting rehearsal will take place thi* evening. Miss Welling made a sensational triumph in London in tho role of tho Du harry when sho was called upon, almost at a minute's notico because of the tragic death of Anny Ahlora, who created the pait. Since then Miss Welling has appeared in a. series of musical plays, and in all of them she scored outstanding triumphs. John Dudley has a fine singing role as R-ene Lavailery. His most impressive number is "If 1 am Dreaming." Cecil Kellaway as an amorous marquis creates much laughter, and he has a good foil in Jean Gibson. Miss Jean Duncan, Miss Lorna Forbes, Mr. Richard Parry (Louis XV.), Lou Vernon, Clifford Cowley, Cecil Paw ley anil Douglas Herald are others in the long cast. Miss ivy Kirby's dancing is an outstanding feature. "Waltzes from Vienna" will also be staged during tho season.
