NUMEROUS APPLICANTS
WAIHI CARETAKER'S POST [by telegraph:—own correspondent] WAIHI, Thursday Two hundred and eighty-three applications for the position of caretaker ol the Wailii Beach Reserve were receivec by the Waihi Borough Council last evening. Among the applicants, who resided in various parts of the Dominion, were the holder of a Victoria Cross, solicitors, engineers, surveyors, accountants atfid electricians. A ballot resulted in the appointment of Mr. W. R. Wotherspoon, of Waihi. Mr. Wotherspoon is well known i® hockey and sports circles in the district and is secretary of the Waihi Rifls Club.
