GIRL'S WORK AT SEA
"ALOFT WHEN REQUIRED" The crew of the L'Avenir, one of the three sailing-vessels which arrived at Falmouth from Australia recently, includes a girl apprentice. Sho is Miss Annie Brock, daughter of LieutenantColonel and Mrs. Brock, of Montreal. Captain Erickson stated that Miss Brock did the ordinary work of an apprentice; went aloft when required, no matter what tho weather, and "hopes to become a captain one day."
