PROTECTION SOCIETY

There was a full attendance of members of the hoard at the monthly meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, held at the society's rooms. The Ilev. Father Colgan presided. The secretary's report stated that during the month 58 newcases and 23 old cases had been dealt with. Fourteen cases had been sent to the solicitors. Office interviews totalled 457; inspector's visits to homes, institutions, etc., totalled 137; and attendances at the Magistrate's and Children's Courts totalled 11. Maintenance money received and paid to clients amounted to £'ls6. The cases were of a varied and interesting nature and received very careful and judicious handling. The executive agreed to endorse the report submitted by the National Council of Women with regard to the Child Welfare Act. Thanks were tendered to the Waitemata County Council for its generous donation.
