August 14 On the Sydney Stock Exehango today the market generally was steady, but there was a, favourable reaction to the Prime Minister's policy speech, and this resulted in fairly heavy trading. Pastoral shares wero mu.'h firmer than a month ago. This morning's sales included: — Commonwealth 4 per cent bonds, 1938, £lO5 ss; 1941, £lO7 15*; 1953, £IOB 17s Gd; 1959, £109; 1961, £lO9 12s 6d. Silver is quoted at 21 9-lGd an ov.. spot, and 21£ d forward, compared with 21 9-16 d and 21 7-16 d on Saturday.
