In other classes of investment gains ofFset losses. Movements in Government loans continued !iu favour of holders and 1940 4 per cent stock advanced 10s on sale at £197 10s. Several other issues had firmer inquiry without attracting any quotation. In local body debenture Auckland Harbour Board, 1910, 5J per cents, Were taken at £lO4 ss, as against £lO4 12s 6d prior to the payment of the last half-year's interest. Banks were fairly steady. Reserve Banks hardened 3d in dealing at £6 ! (is 9d, and Australasias were secured 6d cheaper at iJll js. Other levels were on much the vimo basis. In two transactions South British Insurance Ueelined Is on the peak price reached last week, sales taking place at'B3s and 82s 9d. New Zealands were released 3d lower at 625, and remained unsupported at that price. Queenslands had sale again at absorbing all available supplies. Sales of Auckland Gas, both issues of which were Id firmer, was the only business in other classified sections. In the miscellaneous group. New Zealand Newspapers changed hands 3d better at 31s. Wilsons Cements, Consolidated Bricks, and Farmers Tradings, B preference, had acceptance at late rates, /' while the ordinary issue of Farmers' . Tradings was released at 6s, a fall of 2d. On the unofficial list Woolworths (Sydney) ordinary shares continued to ieact to their sharp advance, and were done down to 725, a further easing of Is 3d. CLOSING QUOTATIONS
