STATUS OF CONGREGATION ■ REQUEST FROM - PARNELL A well-attended of the Auckland Presbytery last eveuing was presided over by the inbflSi&fbr, the Rev. J. A. Thomson. —— A representative oi >r Knox Church, Parnell, asked on''behalf of the congregation that it *be * reduced to the status of an aid-receiving congregation without the right of call. It was proposed to offer a salary of £220 a year. The application was referred to the home mission committee for report. A letter was received from the Prime Minister, the lit.. Hon. G. W. Forbes, in answer to the. request of Presbytery that the term of office of the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, should be extended. Mr. Forbes stated that. His Excellency had already been approached in the matter, but had intimated that, much as'he "would like to be able to accept "a further term of office, he could not do so.
The Presbytery expressed its appreciation of the youth work carried out by Miss A. Kirk wood during the past few months and endorsed the request that she be stationed in Auckland in 1935.
In accepting the resignation of Mr. E. W. Matthews from Presbytery, the Presbytery recorded its sincere appreciation of his efficient and faithful services rendered in various capacities for a number of years.
