THREE LAMPS REMOVED
BOARD MEMBER'S REGRET The removal of the Three Lamps from Ponsonby Road was nientioned at a meeting of the Auckland Transport Board yesterday by Mr. G. Grey Campbell, who expressed the opinion that it was a pity such historical landmarks had been removed without the matter being reported to the board. Mr. R. G. Allum: I believe that some of the prominent men of to-day used to spend their youth sitting on the steps and discussing the affairs of the city. Mr. F. E. de Guerrier, engineer to the board, said that he had been in communication with the city engineer in the matter, and no opposition to the removal of the lamp post had been raised.
