SALVATION ARMY
ELECTION OF GENERAL MEETING ON AUGUST 28 (Received August 10, 8.15 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Augusl; 9 Delegates from 22 countries will attend the meeting of the Salvation Army's high council, which is to be held in London on August 28 to elect a successor to General Higgins, who will retire from the leadership on November 1. The election will be by ballot and a two-thirds majority will be required before a new general can be appointed. Nothing in the laws governing the Salvation Army precludes a woman from becoming general. The sister and daughter of the-late General Bramweil Booth hold high rank in the list of officers.
