CURTAIN WISDOM
SOME PRACTICAL HINTS Curtains that have been hanging for some time often get faded or show signs of wear just on the one side where the sun catches them, through the open window. Reverse them, from left to right, and they will wear more evenly. Then when the bottom part begins to get faded and tender, turn them upside down, the valance at the top will cover all the ragged parts. It is always profitable to buy curtain material with an even pattern that can be turned without being noticeable. The hem at the top and bottom should be the same for the same reason. When hanging curtains with a valance use a double curtain rod, which can be purchased, with extensions, at a very little cost, and fitting the curtains and valance in this way is very simple. Do not discard the window blinds when they become soiled and torn. These, too, should bo turned upside down, and, although not quite so long as before, they will be still usable.
