BURNING QUESTION

DEBATE ENDS IN SMOKE "To smoke or not to smoke?" This has been a burning question for the District Council at Langport, Somerset. He moved " that members desiring to smoke while the council is in session be allowed a short period of absence from the chamber to so indulge, but without suspension of the business of the council meanwhile." It was pointed out that a resolution permitting smoking was passed at the previous meeting, and when there was no seconder to Mr. Lydford's proposal ho said he would continue to bring the question up at subsequent meetings until someone seconded it. The meeting ended in disorder —and the discussion in smoke.!
