BUILDING TO COST £5660
ADDITION TO SCHOOL •CONTRACT AT HAMILTON [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Thursday A contract for the extension of a block of buildings at the Hamilton Technical College has been let by the Education Department to Mr. J. R. McKinnon, of Hamilton, according to advice received at a meeting of the board of managers of the college last night. The contract price is £5660. The work is expected to solve in a large measure the existing problems of inadequate accommodation.
The letter from the department stated that seven tenders were received, the prices ranging from £5660 to £65-16. The specifications provide for the construction of a modern electrical, laboratory to replace tho existing obsolete structure, a general science laboratory and other accommodation for hovs.
It was reported that preliminary work on the site had been commenced, and that good progress was being made with the excavations.
The meeting also lot a contract to Mr. D. A. Miller, of Hamilton, for the supply of seats for the newly-erected assembly hall. The price was £137.
