OLD GIRLS' DANCE The Waikato branch of the St. Cuthbert's Old Girls' Association organised a very enjoyable dance on Tuesday evening for which Airs. A. B. Collier had lent her house. The huge living room, which is ideal for dancing, was decorated with Iceland poppies and jonquils. Music was supplied by a panatrope for the dancing, while a big log lire made a cheery spot to foregather in between dances. Supper was served in tho lounge. Mrs. Collier received her guests in a frock of black chiffon velvet. She was assisted by Miss M. Beale, president of the Hamilton branch, who wore a frock of black silk Ottoman with silver lame sleeves. Anions those present were:—Miss I. Collier, Miss V. Collier, Mrs. C. Leighton, Mrs. S. Sheaf, Mrs. E. Grocott, Mrs. Saunders, Mrs. C. Lockyer (Te Awamutu), Mrs. W. Adams, Miss B. Clark, Miss N. Madill, Miss P. Anderson, Miss N. Storey (Te Awamutu), Miss G. Martin (Cambridge), Miss J. Sayers (Cambridge), Miss G. Martvn (Ngahinepouri), Miss D. Hunter, Miss 0. Odium, Miss M. Catley (Huntly). At the musicalo held in the Centrewny Tea Rooms "Dance Form in Music" was chosen as the subject. An interesting and instructive address on the different dance forms in which music has been written throughout the ages was given by Mrs. A. English. A programme of music illustrating these forms was played by tho music students, while the singers gave examples of cradle songs. Miss V. Rucroft played a pavan, galliard and hornpipe. 13allet music by Gluck was played by Miss K. Clements and examples of an Allemande, Sarabande, minuet and courante were given by Mr. 0. Jensen, who later played a Chopin Waltz and a tango. A country dance, played by Mrs. F. Wilson, "Golliwog's CakeWalk," by Miss M. Jones and a gigue, played as a violin solo by Miss M. Roe, were among other items. Cradle songs were sung by Miss Mvra Booth. Miss M. Barrell, Mrs. C. Wilson and Miss I. Sutherland.
Miss Ohvvn Odium, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. Selwyn Sheaf.
Miss Athalie Gaze, of Hamilton, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Wynne-Jones, of Palmerston North. Miss Helen Hevwood is spending a holiday in Auckland.
