THE ART EXHIBITION
Sir, —The very able letter on the British loan collection of pictures which appeared in Thursday's Herald signed "An Unrepentant Victorian" has my very hearty endorsement and approval. Indeed, the criticism is so well expressed that I feel that it is hardly necessary to add to it, especially as ] am neither art critic nor yet even an artist, but simply just one of the common people referred to in this appropriate letter. Having during recent years seen the pictures in the National Art Gallery, the Wallace collection, also the Tate collection, of London, in addition to other wellknown collections in other parts ol tin 1 world, and been able to appreciate them, one naturally has some knowledge of what kind of pictures please the ordinary person. 1, too, hope that the general public will attend this collection in large numbers, as they will undoubtedly find much to please and educate them in many of the pictures, though a few will certainly not do so. Walter Moody.
