Mrs. H. Tozer, Toronto, Canada, is at the Hotel Cargen. Jliss More Vaile, who has been visiting- the Chateau, will return to-day. Mrs. Sol Myers, Wellington, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. McGregor Crowe, Mayfair Flats. Mrs. M. C. Holmes, Palmerston North, Miss W. Nesbitt, Napier and Miss G. Johnstone, London, are at the Station Hotel. Mrs. G. Meikle, Te Aroha, Mrs. S. Crackwell, Hamilton, Mrs. W. H. Ball and Miss D. Lutsham, Christcliurch, are at the Central Hotel. Mrs. David Hoodless, Suva, with her small daughter, is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. 11. J. Aldington, Mt. St. John Avenue, Epsom ; Mrs. Hoodless intends leaving by the Niagara in about a mouth's time for iMiglancl, via Sydney, India, Egypt and Palestine.

A talk on her visit to Honolulu was given by Mrs. J. Roid to members of the Kohimarama-Mission Bay Progressive League, and another on gardening by Mrs. G. Clark. Musical items were given by Mesdames Grant, Cragg, Watkin, Clark and Miss Clark. Mrs, G. Grant presided.

The sixth annual meeting of the Te Rore branch of the League of Mothers resulted in the election of Mrs. Allcock as president, Mrs. Garrett as vice-presi-dent and Mrs. L. Godfrey as secretary. A talk on " The Friendly Bond was given by ]\lrs. Allcock, and the thought for the month was supplied by Mrs. Garrett.

An address upon work among the Maori girls in and around the city was o-iven by Sister Ivy, Methodist deaconess, to members of the Progressive Club of the Young Women's Christian Association. Mrs. Sullivan presided. Mrs. Rawlev, delegate to the National Council of Women, gave a comprehensive report of the last meeting of the council. Supper was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Day, Graham and Pocock.

A bridge afternoon held recently at the Navy League's rooms in Dilworth Building. The hostesses were Mesdames J. Alexander, Wvvern Wilson, C. Webber, H. T. Merritt. C. A. Gumming. H. Tiarks. H. It. Bloomfield, F. H. Gifford and Miss Skeet. Among those who took part were Mesdames Whitcombe (Christchurch). P. A. Lindsay, J. N. Greenland, Gabites, Hepburn, Michael, J. H. Sherwin, W. Alexander, Collins, Morrah, Hobbs. Carter, J. B. Donald, Jobson. H. G. Wooller, W. Shaw, Pascoe, D. It. Salmon, J. W. Lowe- Worltiy, and the Misses Bent and Darling. The prizes were won by Mrs. J. W. Lowe (auction), Mrs. Lindsay (contract). Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames Mitchelson, Palmer and Shera.

A social evening was held in the school hall on Monday by the Auckland Grammar Old Girls' Association, the guest of honour being Miss Eileen Penrose, whose marriage takes place this month. During the evening a presentation was made to Miss Penrose. Items were given by Mrs. J. Pool, and Misses Myrtle Burns and Noni Wright. Winners of the competitions were Miss W. Picken, Mrs. C. B. Plummer, Miss M. Baxter and Miss N. Lavers. Among those present were: Mesdames A. Nicholson, J. Alexander, C. 13. Plummer, J. Pool, T. itignall, Misses E. M. Johnston, K. Edgerley, M. Burns, D. A dance was held in the Komakorau Hall (near -Taupiri) last week to mark the formation of a new women's institute in the district. A vocal solo was given by Mrs. S. A.
