REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES ! GAME WITH NORTH AUCKLAND EARLIER START ON SATURDAY The managers of the Auckland representative teams for next Saturday's games were appointed at last evening's meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union. It was resolved to appoint Messrs. A. Tilly and G. Nicholson managers of the A team to meet North Auckland at Eden Park and Mr. R. Galbraitb manager of the B team to play South Auckland at Pukekohe. A letter was received from the Auckland Travel Club advising (hat a meeting of sporting and other representatives would bo hold on August 27 for the purpose of formulating a scheme for the entertainment of visitors passing through Auckland to tho Melbourne Centenary celebrations. A request was contained in tho letter that the union be represented at this meeting. It was decided to appoint Mr. H. Frost as the union's representative. A letter received from the Edon Park Board ,of Control intimating that it did not approve of the use of the park on Anzac Day and Good Friday was received. The Manukau Club was granted permission to play a match at Helensvillo nest Saturday. The New Zealand . Broadcasting Board wrote giving authority for the rebroadcasting of overseas matches at Eden Park, but pointed out that it wns considered tho innovation would l'ot be appreciated. It was resolved to thank for the courtesy extended, but the committee also agreed not to proceed any further in the matter. Official notification that Auckland's challenge for the Ranfurly Shield had been accepted was received from the Hawke'3 Bay Union. Arising out of a circular letter received frcm tho New Zealand Union it was agreod to appoint a sub-committee comprising Messrs. H. Frost, G. Nicholson, A. Belcher and J. A. Malcolm, for the purpose of bringing down proposals concerning matters relative to the game, which, if approved by the New Zealand Union, will be sent on for consideration at the Imperial Rugby Conference in England. The committee decided to start tho representative game between Auckland and North Auckland on Saturday at 2.30 p.m., so as to permit followers of the game to listen in to the whole of the broadcast of the New Zealand-Australia test match at Sydney.
