NEW ZEALAND AT 81/MORE HOPEFUL OUTLOOK CLEARANCE OF STOCKS New Zealand finest butter is now selling on the London market at 81s per cwt., a rise of Is. The market is firm. The outlook for the immediate future is distinctly hopeful. In the Northern Hemisphere a dry summer has been experienced, and supplies are now diminishing rapidly. Stocks in New Zealand and Australia are light, practically all last season's output having been cleared. The new season's make in the Dominion is now beginning to appear. Merchants have received the following cablegrams froin their London houses, dated August 7: — . New Zealand Producers' Co-operative Marketing Association, Limited.—Butter: New Zealand, 81s; Danish, 108s. The butter market is firm. Cheese is steady and unchanged. Joseph Nathan arid Company, Limited, from Trengrouse and Nathan. — Butter: 81s. Cheese: White, 495; coloured, 465. Both markets are firm.

GOLD AND SILVER QUOTATIONS IN LONDON (Received August 8, 7.35 p.m.) LONDON, August 7 Fine gold is quoted to-day* at £6 17s lOd an oz., compared with £6 18s o£d on August 4. Silver is quoted at 20 13-16 d an oz. spot, and 20 15-16 d forward, compared with 20id and 20 9-16 don August 4. The quotation for silver at per fine oz. is 22 7-16 d, compared with 22 9-16 d on August 4.
MOKAU DAIRY FACTORY EXTENSIVE ADDITIONS MADE [from: ottb own correspondent] Ti! KUITI, Wednesday Extensive additions to the buildings and plant of the Mokau Co-operative Dairy Company have been made to copis with the large increase in the supply of butter-fat, and this season the company will have a factory capable of producing up to 650 tons. The work is now nearing completion, and at the annua'! meeting of the company preliminary arrangements were made,to celebrate the opening. The official opening ceremony was arranged for September 20, and it is to be preceded by a.luncheon at the hall.
