METROPOLIS RAIDED INTERCEPTION OF BOMBERS TRAINING IN DEFENCE By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received July 24. 5.15 p.m.) LONDON, July 21 The mock air raids on London carried ont by tho Royal Air Force were begun last evening, when 180 bombing aeroplanes were flown toward the capital and a, similar number of defending fighters, aided by search-lights, antiaircraft batteries and civilian observers' corps, sought to waylay and destroy them. The chief objectives of the raiders included the Air Ministry building and the "seat of tho Government of Northland." A communique states: " The bomber formations were picked up and reported by the observer corps, whereupon eight fighter squadrons were despatched to intercept them. The raiders bombed seven targets."
