PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT PUHUNUI The Pakuranga Hunt met at tho home of Mr. mid Mrs. Wills McLaughlin, at, Puhuniti, near Papatoetoe, yesterday, when good sport was enjoyed by about 40 followers. Hounds threw off nt the back of the property, and after working over rough country put up a hare, which was killed, after (i short run. A strong have which took the hunt for a brisk run round a hill on tho property was next put up, and then went nway to the Puhunui Creek, where it was lost. Another went over practically tho same country, and was killed near tho creek. Tho hunt was entertained to afternoon tea Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin. Among the followers were: —Mr. W. Elliott, on Woo Macgregor: Miss P. Weston, on a black; Miss T). Weston, on Bluclight. MARAMARTJA CLUB GOOD SPORT ENJOYED The Maramarua Hunt met at Mr. F. A. Downie's farm last. Saturday, arid members were entertained at morning tea by Mrs. Downie. Wcathor conditions were not good and some interesting runs were spoiled by showers After hunting tho surrounding country followers wero the guc-sts of Mr. and Mrs 1. Maxwell. Hounds then threw off on Mr. Maxwell's farm, and after Castiii)? about in the fern put up a strong Jiore, which ran well for a mile, but scent was destroyed by a shower and the quarry wna lost in »tho swamp. Another hare wbb put up almost immediately, and led tho field over the land of Messrs. J. Goodwin, Maxwell and Downie. where the only kill of tho day was made. Two other runs were made on Mr. Downie'c property, but rain sjioued the seent. Among the followers were:—the master, Air. J. D. Pagan on Larry; the huntsman, Mr. S. Synies. on Comet: the whips. Air.
