ROUGH FRUIT HANDLING
Sir, —I wish to endorse "Onlooker's" letter regarding the mishandling of fruit on the wharves. It is now time that this matter was taken up by the responsible authorities, as the loss caused must be very serious, and can only add to the cost of the undamaged fruit to the consumer. It is not suggested that the rough handling is done maliciously, but is surely due to carelessness and ignorance. It cannot be realised how much damage is being done to the fruit. This should be stopped at once, which would in eflect make fruit cheaper to all of us. 1 am hoping this correspondence may have the result of waking up the responsible officials, so that in future the fruit may be given that careful handling that is absolutely necessary. A Small Fruiterer.
