TRAGEDY NEAR PERTH

FOUR ITALIANS DEAD WOMEN AND YOUNG CHILDREN Four Italians, two women and two children, were found with their throats cut at Rcdcliffe; seven miles from Perth, on July 13. Three were apparently murdered by one of tlie wouifiil, who afterwards committed suicide. A baby of 11 months was found lying unharmed among the bodies. The victims are: Airs. Livia Pinti. aged about 34; Mrs. Guizzardi, aged about 35; William Guizzardi, her two-year-old son; and Alma Giovinazzo, aged live. All were found on the .floor of Mrs. kitchen. On th(3 floor also were a very sharp long-bladed vegetable knife and two sharp table knives smeared with blood. When the tragedy was discovered, three of the victims were dead, and Mrs. Guizzardi died soon after arrival at Perth Hospital. r Mrs. Guizzardi, who had been suffering mental strain for several months, took her child across to Mrs. Pinti'B three-room shack. Soon after two o'clock a neighbour, Eugdne Mangini, who had bought some flour for Mrs. Pinti, went to the house to deliver it. Tho kitchen door, which was bloodstained, was closed as ho approached. The man hurried to his home near by, and returned with his wife. Opening the kitchen door they found a woman and two children dead and the other woman dying. The 11-months-old baby of Mrs. Pinti was unharmed, except for a small scratch on its upper lip. Alma Giovinazzo had visited Mrs. Pinti'shouse to deliver a message that her father would be calling soon for vegetables which were to bo sent to Mrs. Pinti's husband, who is .a sustenance worker at Southern Cross. It is thought that she while the tragedy was • being enacted or a few minutes before. Mrs. Pinti, who came from Italy two years ago, had four children, comprising tho infant found alive among the dead and three who were at school. Mrs. Guizzardi, who had been four years in Australia, was the mother of three children.
