A pleasant' occasion was the social evening arranged by the men of St. Georges Presbyterian Church at Takapuna 011 Tuesday. Various items were given and the men's committee provided the supper. There was a lars;e attendance or members of tho St. George's Women's Society, as well as members of the congregation.

A flag bridge evening, organised by the members of the Takapuna Croquet Club, was held in the bowlers' pavilion on Tuesday. Tho hostesses were Mrs. F. E. Amodeo and Mrs. E. Glover. The prize-winners were Mrs. Asliwin, Mrs. Glover, Mrs. Letherbv, Mrs. Amodeo, Mr. Lawrenca and Mr. Walters. The opportunity was taken by Mr. Ruuciman, a member of the Takapuna Bowling Club, to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. E. Glover, who have been associated with the clubs for a number of years and who are leaving for England 'in a fortnight.

A pleasant surprise party was taken by the ladies of tho Kaipara Flats Women's Institute to the homo of Mrs. Brighouse, who is leaving to reside in Waimiha. Mrs. Brighouso was one of the first members of the committee which formed the Kaipara Flats Institute* and is an esteemed and valued member. Mrs. Brighouse was also the guest at an afternoon given by the St. Alban's ladies guild, of which she was secretary. Mrs. Dill (president) presented her with a set of dishes. Mr. Brighouse is a well-known officer at the Kaipara Flats railway station.
