G. H. Howard- I Vyse, C.M.G., D.5.0., chief of staff. || Captain Arthur Curtis.,. C.M.G , C.V:O., M.C., private secretary. Captain Howard Kerr, M.V.0., 0.8. E., || and Lieutenant Derek Schreiber, equer- ' rics. W A cablegram from London in May |' stated that Major H. T. Stanyforth, jg Comptroller, would also be attached to § the Prince's staff. Major-Genera 1 Howard-Vyse, who was born in 1883, entered the Army 32 f| years ago, and rose to the rank of cap- » tain in 3908. He was lieutenant-colonel , M commanding the Royal Horse Guards £* from 1922 until 1920, when he attained | the rank of colonel. Major-General jf Howard-Vyse was employed with tho Canadian Forces prior to the Great War, but at the outbreak of hostilities, he served as brigade-major of the ff sth Cavalry Brigade and chief staff f> _ | officer of the sth Cavalry Division. In V Palestine, in 1017-18. he was chief staff officer of the Desert Mounted Corps and general officer commanding the 10th Cavalry Brigade. From 1928 until j' 1930, he commanded the Cairo Cavalry ! Brigade, and since then he has been | commandant of the Equitation School | and inspector of cavalry. He was § awarded the D.S.O. in 1915, and was | made a C.M.G. in, 1918. Captain Curtis was born in 1889, and | was given the distinctions of C.M.G. I and C.V.O. in 1925 and 1927 respect- | ively. He served in the 11th Hussars, | and was also attached to the Royal £ Flying Corp3 and the staff during tho | Great War. He was private secretary | to Earl Jellicoe, Governor-General of f New Zealand from 1920 until 1924, and § military secretary to Lord Stonehaven, jf Governor-General of Australia from 1925 until 1928. | Captain Howard Kerr, whose dis- | tinctions as 0.8. E. and M.V.O. were gained in 1922 and 1929 respectively, \ has been equerry to the Duke of Glou- | cester since 1924. He joined the lltH . [ Hussars in 1914, and ..served in tho i Great War from that year until 1919. | He was A.D.C. to Viscount Fitzalan | of Derwent, Lord-Lieutenant of Ire- | land from 1921 to 1922, and private f chamberlain to the Pope in 1928. A' 1 life governor of Queen Mary's Hospi- | tal. Captain Kerr is a Chevalier of the | Order of Belgium and has the Order of the Sacred Treasure of Japan.
