FAIR ON EAST COAST 1 OTHER PARTS UNSETTLED I The weather report and forecast fop New Zealand, issued last evening by the Government meteorologist, was as follows:—The first of what probably will /he a series of westerly depressions is now crossing southern New Zealand. The indications are for moderate to strong north-westerly to westerly winds, reaching to gale force in places, but later decreasing and hacking temporarily tfr the south-west in the south. Seas: Rough on the west coast and in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong north-westerly to westerly winds; seas moderate in the northern portion and rough in the southern. Weather: Unsettled in districts with a westerly aspect and in high country, with some rain. Mainly it will be fair in eastern districts, but some scattered showers likely. Temperatures mild.

SPECIAL AUCKLAND FORECAST NORTH-WESTERLY WINDS The Government meteorologist issued to the Herald last the following special weather forecast for the Auckland district: —Moderate south-westerly to westerly winds veering to northwesterly and freshening.
