DISTURBANCE IN SHOP
LABOURER SENT TO PRISON An admission that ho had committed mischief by wilfully damaging a set of scales to the value of £3 was made by Benjamin Edo, aged 46, labourer (Mr. Hall Skelton), in the Police Court on Saturday. Evidence was given that the offence was committed on Friday evening ih a dairy in Pitt Street, City. Following an argument with the shopkeeper, a woman, accused dashed the scales off the counter, deliberately breaking them. He had previously caused troublo in the shop. "Shopkeepers are entitled to protection from unruly nien like accused," said the magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, in passing sentence of 14 days' imprisonment.
