THE ASSOCIATION GAME
CHATHAM CUP CONTESTS Y.M.C.A. TO PLAY THISTLE PONSONBY AND OLD BOYS* TEAM Tim second round of the Chatham Cup competition will ho played under the control of the Auckland Football Association to-morrow, when Thistle will 12,1 ay Y.M.C.A. and Ponsonbv will meet Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys. The Thistle-Y.M.C.A. match will bo staged at Blandford Park, starting at 2.30 p.m. so as to allow for extra time if needed.
A fine contest is anticipated between these two teams as both are displaying splendid form at present. Y.M.C.A. plays typical cup-tie football and it may be this characteristic which will give it an advantage over the Thistle side. The latter plays good football under any conditions, however, and Y.M.C.A. will need to bo at its best to have a chance of eliminating its rivals. Another fine game should result between Ponsonby and Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys at V-'estem Springs. Mount Albert should have an advantage in speed, especially among tho, forwards, who are very dangerous when given a chance, but Pondonby should be able to offset this by sound defence. Tho championship competition will also be continued. North Shore should prove too strong for Comrades at Victoria Park, although the. strength of tho latter team is hard to judge owing to its inconsistent performances. Onehunga will meet Eastern Suburbs at Onehunga. Lower grade competitions will be continued. Following are the teams: — Y.M.C.A. Senior Grade.—Smith, Mowat, Riddolls, Coltniau. Chapman, Thornes, Muraue, Pearson. Riggans, llnni'lton, McParlane. Second Grade.—Hunter, Collison, Dobson, Farquhnrson. Humphreys, G. Sims. A. Sims, Bridges, Hoper, Birkenhead, Thompson, Hill.
