I ' | SPECIAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. 1 More than Twenty-five Members of the j Australian Mutual Provident Society (whose names are set forth below), each of whom is assured for not less thun £IOO, have, by written requisition addressed to me, required me to call:— (a) A Special Meeting of the Society to consider and, if thought fit, to pass one or more of the following resolutions:— 1. That all the words after "say" in fifth line of by-law 45 B, page 22, be deleted and substitute the following:— Every Member not being a Minor shall have one vote, provided they have £IOO or over of assurance or endowment, or £5 a" annuity or over under any policy or policies registered in the books of the Society in his or her name, no member to have more than one vote. 2. That an additional eub-clauße "F" be added to by-law 17, page 14:—" F." The ballot shall be secret. j 3. That an additional sub-clause "G*' bo added to by-law 17, page 14:—" G." The voting shall be by preferential voting, with proportional representation. 4. That the voting paper bo altered to comply with the foregoing resolutions numbered 2 and 3. 5. That the following additional by-law under General be adopted:—sß. The Directors may at their discretion subsidise the Surf Life-Saving Association of Australia to the maximum extent of £SOO per annum. (b) If necessary a Confirmatory Meeting of the Society to confirm the said amendments to the by-laws. % I. Australian Mutual Provident Society'e Act, 1910, amendments to the By-laws must be first approved by two-thirds of the votes at a meeting of the Society convened for the purpose and finally passed by a like majority of votes nt another mooting convened for that purpose. For the information of members "of the Society the following By-law is here set forth:— i • BY-LAW 45. (a) On all questions to be determined by a show of hands each membor shall have only one vote, except that in the case ol aft equality of votes the chairman shall have a casting vote, in addition to tha vote to which he may bo entitled at a member. • (b) A ballot may be demanded at any meeting on any question (ejeept that of an adjournment of a meeting) by twenty five members present in person when tho ( voting ahull be according to the follow ing scale:—That is to say, every member .not being a minor shall have one vote for each aggregate £IOO of assurance or endowment, and one vote for each aggrov gate £5 of annuity, under any policy or policies registered in tho books of tho Society in his name, but no member shall have moro than twenty votes in all. (c) When two or more persons are members by virtue of any policy the member whoso name appears first in the policy, or in any assignment tlioreof (as the case may bo), if present, or if »ot present, then tho next in succession being present shall bo tho person entitled to voto in respect of such policy. (d) Any membor by a writing signed by himself shall havo power to appoint any other member as his proxy to voto on his behalf at. any meeting, specified in such .writing, or at any adjournment thereof; but if two or moro proxies shall be offered, 1 signed by tho same person, all shall be void unless the last expressly revokes all the others. The instrument appointing any proxy shall bo deposited nt such Office ns the Board may determine not less that forty-eight hours before the time for holding the meeting ai which tho proxy named in such instrument proposes to vote.
