DISMISSED TEACHER
WOMAN WHO MARRIED "PRINCIPLE SETTLED" "This settles a very important principle," said the chairman of the Auckland Education Board, Mr. 1. Wells, at >a meeting of the board jesterday, referring to the failure of an apj>eal against dismissal by a married woman teacher who was sole teacher «it Uedhill school,' near Dargavillc. When the woman married a farmer, who later went on relief work, the board, at the request of the school committee, gave her three months' notice of dismissal. She appealed under the undue hardship clause of the Finance Act, 1931. "If a woman chooses to inarry a man who is without work, she accepts her husband's status and she cannot afterward complain to tho board concerning undue hardship," said Mr. Wells. They were referred to the executive committee. "Tho result of the appeal has created considerable interest, and will affect °ther boards in the Dominion," said the Hon. A. Burns.
