ANNUAL MILITARY BALL Coloured lights and foliage skilfully arranged made the Town Hall look very gay fop the annual military ball which took place this week. Strings of bunting in the hall and the colours of the Hauraki Regiment over tho stage contributed to the appropriate military atmosphere. Lieutenant L. R. Wilkinson, Captain Fraser Baddeley and Lieutenant E. J. Browning were in charge of the' floor arrangements and Mrs. Fraser Baddeley acted as hostess. Hac frock was of white satul crepo with trimmings in light and dark blue crepe (the colours of tho Hauraki Regiment). Guests of the committee were Colonel J. E. Duigan, Group-Captain Hewlett, the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. A. F. Tunks, and Mrs. A. E. Newsham. The latter wa,s in* black ring velvet with cape edg€id with white fox fur. The supper was arranged by a ladies' committee under Mrs. A. Skinner, who was in saxe blue figured silk crinkle crepe. Other members of the committee were Mrs. Browning, in primrose windswept satin; Mrs. Haro, in black embroidered lace and net; Mrs. A. Dickson, navy blue satin; Mrs. J. Dickson, white georgette and lace; Mrs. Garvie, black windswept satin; Miss MacLachlan, electric blue crepo trimmed with black; Miss Garvie, black windswept; velvet; Miss Hopkins, pale pink orgatidie; and Miss Phyllis Anderson, red stand crepe. Among others present were: Mrs. G. Sanders, Mrs. Renshaw, Mrs. Ross Smith, Mrs. J. B. MacDiarmid, Mrs. Maloney, Mrs. H. Mollgaard, Mrs. Dohertv, > Mrs. Talbot Hunt, Mrs. Knowles, Mrs. M. P.
