BRITISH EXPEDITION INFORMATION BY RADIO •i ' ' LONDON, June 1? Accompanying the expedition to leave England nest September for exploration in Antarctica under the South Australian Mr. J. H. Rymill .will be Lieutenant Meiklejohn, who is to be lent by the Royal Corps of Signals. Lieutenant Meiklejohn will establish a wireless station as near - as possible to the South Pole, remaining there for nearly three years and telling the world how the explorers are faring. The expedition is to explore the coast between Luitpold and Charcot Lands with a v iew to determining whether the Antarctic is comprised of one or two continents. Sir Hubert "W'ilkins is the only man who has seen the coast, as he passed it during a flight from Deception Island in 11)29- The expedi - tion is to purchase a vessel of 120 tons and a small aeroplane. The personnel probably will number 14. Five are members of the Watkins Arctic air route expedition. The British Government is contributing to the expenses, and the Roval Geographical Society will donate £IOOO. The expedition will remain in Antarctica for 32 months, " exploring 1000 miles .of coastline from east to west of the line of Sir Hubert Wilkins' flight over Hearstland. Dredging and weather observations will also be carried out. The vessel will be sailed to the Antarctic, and the Royal research ship Discovery 11. will take the aeroplane to Deception Island, where it will be ulaced on floats and , flown over Bransfield Straits to the mainland of Antarctica.
