Forestier-Walker (Conservative), resulted as follows: Major J. Herbert (Con.) . 20,640 ! l'ev. Daniel Hughes (Lab.) . . 11,094 Conservative majority . . 9,546 The poll for the Monmouth seat at the last general election resulted: Sir L. Forestier-Walker (Conservative), 24.829; Rev. D. Hughes (Labour), 10,217; Conservative majority, 14,612.
