SCHOLASTIC HONOUR
AUCKLANDER'S SUCCESS J£he degree of Ph.D. in law of the University of Cambridge has been awarded to Mr. R. G* McElroy, a former student of Auckland University College, and son of Mrs. F. C. McElroy, of . Epsom. Mr. McElroy, who is 27 years of age, received his earlier education at the Thames High School and Auckland Grammar School. At Auckland University College he graduated LL.B. and LL.M., and was subsequently awarded a post graduate travelling scholarship, which entitled him to two years' further study at a British university. Mr. McElroy is the third student of Auckland University College who has gained this degree at a British university. The two others were Dr. E. E. Bailey, a former Rhodes scholar, and Dr. James Williams, who is now in prnctico in Auckland. It is anticipated that Dr. McElroy will return to New Zealand in September or October.
