DEVONPORT BEATS CITY LOSERS LACK FINISH A holiday programme was provided by tho Auckland Rugby League yesterday afternoon, when Devonport played City at Carlaw Park, Devonport winning by 18 points to 15. A good crowd watched n fine game. City was unlucky to be beaten. Several times (luring tho gtinte the City baekß did splendid work, but their movements lacked finish. Devonport fielded a good team, while City. had two reserve grade players. Tho game was won only in the last few minutes, when Leatherbarrow scored a try. It was the first game Devonport has won this season. City held the advantage well into the second half and looked certain to win. A bad mistake by Turci cost City a certain try. Laing and Seagar were the pick of the Devonport backs. O'Donald played a good game at five-eighths. Donald and Leatherbarrow were the best of the forwards. White and Wayne were the best backs for City. The forwards played good football and did good work in tho loose. Clarke and Herring wore the best of a good pack. Leatherbarrow Bcored two tries for Devonport and O'Donnell and Stephens also scored. Laing kicked three goals. White, Belsham and Herring scored for City. Watene kicked a penalty goal and Wyberg converted two tries. Mr. P. Rogers was referee.
