UNIVERSITY DISORDER
STUDENTS REPEL POLICE BARRICADED IN BUILDING (Received May 22, 10.45 p.m.) LONDON, May 22 The Belgrade correspondent of the Manchester Guardian states that serious student disorders have occurred at Belgrade University as a protest against a new decree prohibiting students' political organisations. Three hundred students, mostly Communists, barricaded themselves in the building after smashing furniture and windows and burning books. The police who were called in were forced to retreat under a shower of tables, chairs and inkpots. The students declare that they can hold out for three days as they have sufficient food.
