CRUISE OF YACHT
VISION AT NORFOLK ROUGH WEATHER TRIP Advice that the yacht Vision, which left Auckland on April 18 and Parengarenga, North Auckland, on May 12 on a world cruise, had reached Norfolk Island on Monday was received yesterday. The message said:—"Foul weather en route." The Vision has as her crew Commander H. M. Montague, R.N., retired, and Mrs. Montague, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Temple and Mr. M. 0. Guthrie. They made a leisurely voyage up the coast from Auckland, visiting the Bay of Islands and Whangaroa before going on to Parengarenga. They had some excitement at the Bay of Islands when a gale carried away their lifeboat, which, however, was recovered later on the Paihia Beach undamaged. The strong tide also prevented the yacht from riding head to wind and the sawing motion of the anchor chains cut. through the bobstay. Before any further damage was done the launch Alma G. 11. took the Vision in tow, but so strong was the gale that it took tho best part of two hours to reach the pier, less than two miles from the anchorage.
