BURNING OF SCHOOL
BUILDING AT WARD [BY TELF.GRAFH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] BLENHEIM, Tuesday The school building at Ward, which has accommodation for about 70 pupils, was destroyed by fire at four o'clock this morning. The new term commenced yesterday and it is believed that the outbreak was caused by a faulty chimney. Nothing was saved. A gramophone and piano owned by the school committee was insured in the State Office for £77. The school committee has applied to "Wellington for desks and intends to set up temporary classrooms pending the reconstruction of the building.
