WOMEN'S DIVISION
Activities of branches of the Waitemata provincial executive of (lie Women's Division of the I 1 armors Union are as follows: Clevedon. —At the May meeting a box lecture from the Home Science Department;, Otago University, was given, and proved most interesting to members. Mrs. Allen, president of the Tirau branch, was welcomed to the meeting, and gave a talk on the work of her branch. Donations were made to the Waitcmatu provincial executive housekeeping fund, to the community chest, and to the branch's sewing fund. Arrangements were completed for a children's party. Pokeno. —The branch was visited by two members of the Pukckobe branch. Mrs. Watson, president, and Mrs. Lawson. A demonstration of moccasin making was given by Mrs. Lawson. Pianoforte solos bv Mrs. Watson, and souks; by Mrs. Lawson, were much appreciated. A presentation was mado to Mrs. J. Woodcock, who is leaving the district. The points competition for "something new from something old" was won by Mrs. R. O'Leary, 1; Miss Lalor, 2; and Mrs, Clark Leathern, 3. Takanini. —Mrs. MeCallum presided at tho monthly meeting. Tho thought for tho month was given by Mrs. A. Wallace. Tho points competition (best article mado from two skeins of Jl-ply New Zealand wool) resulted as follows: Mrs. G. Martin. 1; Mrs. Brcnnnn, 2; and Mrs. Faulkner, 3. Mrs. ("ice and Mrs. Atkinson, who were in charge of the exchange table, were kept exceptionally busy. It was decided to hold a social afternoon in .July to celebrate the branch's first birthday. Whangarata.—At the annual meeting held recently, the president gave a resume of tho half-year's work. The bal-ance-sheet showed finances to be in a satisfactory condition. As the branch has been in existence only six months, it was unanimously decided to re-elect all officers. These are: President, Mrs. G. P. Ewing: vice-presidents, Mesdames Ward and Giles; secretary, Mrs. L, Ryan.
